I was amazed when I visited Norway for the first time two years ago. Yes, I was certainly wowed by the jaw-dropping beauty of the fjords, glaciers, thousand-foot waterfalls, and picturesque lakes with reflections of perfectly manicured lawns surrounding red barns and white houses; but it was mostly the way they put Americans to shame physically that impressed me.
There’s no magic number of hours of screen time per day that works for everybody, so be sure to find the ideal level for your family. If you notice that electronic gadgets are stealing too much time from outdoor activities, active play with other children, or time spent doing things as a family, it’s probably time to cut back. Creating screen-free times of day, as well as being mindful of your own electronic media use, can help.
